My Personal Creation Poem

I wrote a poem several years ago related to design. Poetry reveals truths in an artistic manner. Many mistakenly call Genesis' account of creation as poetry and therefore allegorical. A reading of passages in the New Testament indicate that Genesis creation account although stated in prose, was taken as actual truth.

There are two passages of scripture which inspired me to write My Personal Creation Poem. The first is Second Timothy 1:9. Speaking of God, Paul says he "has saved us, and has called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before the ages of time."

Paul refers to an event before time. The Jews and Christians of old realized what was said in Genesis 1:1. In the beginning God Created . . ." Before this event there was purpose granted to everyone. The next passage speaks of our creation from inception. The psalmist says:

For thou hast possessed my reins; thou didst cover me in my mother's womb.I will praise thee, for I am fearfully, wonderfully made. Marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.My bones were not hidden from thee when I was made in secret, curiously wrought in the lower parts of the earth.Psalm 139:13 - 15

The Bible teaches that we are wonderfully made through a design of the creator. Evolutionary science teaches that we are the product of trillions of mutations over billions of years.

My Creation Poem

I see shapes, I see colors
I feel the finger of my mother
I am alive! The proof is in my cries.

Not cries of grief, but cries of life.
Not sounds of pain, but sounds of belief

Belief, not for me but for others that see me,
that they may see and hear the cries of life.

I may be small, but its’ love that I most recall.
My life is proof of love as I look to my parents above.

I am real, thanks to a plan from someone unseen,
a plan from God in which I now perceive.
